Patricia Garcia

Patricia Garcia is a Miami native of Cuban-Nicaragua descent. She is currently a student at Florida International University (FIU) where she is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. She is a graduate of the Young Women's Preparatory Academy in Miami, FL where her research pursuits began. Patricia was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute High School Scholar at the University of Miami which exposed her to the world of research for the first time. Throughout her time at the undergraduate level, she has had the opportunity to work on various research projects across the U.S. Following her senior year of high school, Patricia was awarded a research position at Worcester Polytechnic Institute where she worked on engineering scaffolds to enhance the regeneration of damaged tissues and organs.
