Bio
I am currently studying at Carnegie Mellon University to achieve a Master's degree in Engineering and Technology, Innovation, Management. My classes are interdisciplinary; bridging my passion for technology and business together. This program allows me to take classes from the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Tepper School of Business. I get the best of both worlds. In my undergraduate career at UC San Diego, I was able to develop skills from two different areas - Mathematics and Computer Science. Pursuing this double joint major allowed me to learn theoretical concepts and logic and then readily apply them in my courses and projects. This summer I will be interning at Qualcomm and will be helping develop code that will test and automize their software that is used throughout the tech industry. The software will flag any errors in code that may be hidden to humans, and will allow testing to be done at a much faster rate.
Current job
Software Engineering Intern
Why would you recommend exploring careers in science and technology to other Latina girls?
I would recommend Latina girls to explore careers in STEM because not only will you always be learning something new, but you will help increase the number of Latinas in this field. We are outnumbered both ways - as a woman and a Latina. With a STEM degree, you can be versatile. We can easily work in technology, aerospace, government, entertainment, etc, or whatever we are passionate about in the future.
