Right now I'm studying computer science at The University of Washington full-time while also working at Microsoft as a UX intern. I have more of a passion for design work and prototyping than I do for developing the code. In other words, I'm more of a front-end developer than a back-end developer. Day to day at work is spent collaboration with my team members and people in other teams. Sometimes there are designs made in a low scale view and presented to the developers that will try and build the page in code; There are times where designs can be nearly impossible to develop or will take longer than the project timeline will allow. We need to be able to collaborate in order to achieve our goal of having our project done while meeting the requirements that were initially made.
I recommend exploring careers in science and technology to other latina girls because this is a field with very little diversity. During my current and previous internship, I have not once interacted with another latina on another team or my own team because there haven't been any. I've been in a lot of technical environments where I have been the only female and the only Latina. We need more Latina girls to know that they can do whatever they put their mind to because todo es posible.
