We work with young children and their families to try to understand how very young children learn words. We make computer programs that can simulate how children learn language and use them to make predictions that we can then test with children. We also create software to help children learn language.
I think working in technology and science is a career path that is often overlooked, if not outright discouraged, for Latina girls, and yet it offers countless opportunities to work creatively in problems that matter to us in a growing field.
