Current job:

Software Engineer at Scribd

I am currently a Software Engineer at Scribd, specifically part of the Android team. I get to develop features for our Android mobile application and work with other Android engineers to solve different sets of problems. I recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in computer science and relocated to San Francisco.

During college, I interned as a software engineer at Salesforce and Clover Network in the bay area. My internships helped me learn what type of work I wanted to do in my field when I graduated. Now, as a software engineer in the industry, I want to continue learning about the different things I can do with my skill set.

Why would you recommend exploring careers in science and technology to other Latina girls?

Nowadays, you can incorporate any of your interests and hobbies with technology. For example, you can combine computer science with fields like design, fashion, medicine, government, nonprofit, etc. Learning something like computer science is just learning a set of tools that you can use to make anything you want.

Technology also has the potential to solve all types of problems in the world so you have the opportunity to have a lot of impact.
